Before Thanksgiving a received a county craft/decor catalog in the mail. One afternoon I dug it out of the mail pile and started flipping through it. I didn't really see anything that I liked so I was about to toss it into the recycle when something on the back page caught my eye. It was perfect and I had never seen anything like it before. As I read it, my eyes filled with tears and I knew right then that I would be ordering about 6 or 7 of those things. It was a metal Christmas Ornament that said," Merry Christmas From Heaven" and a few lines from a poem.
After I looked around awhile, I decided that instead of buying them I would make something and give them as gifts to my grandma, Aunt, and cousins as a Christmas gift. I love how they turned out, although the pictures don't do it justice but you get the idea.
I packaged them up into little Christmas boxes and also sent along a copy of the entire poem.
Everyone was shocked and not a dry eye in the house.
Here's the entire poem. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
Merry Christmas From Heaven
Author: John Wm. Mooney, Jr.
I still hear the songs
I still see the lights
I still feel your love on cold wintry nights
I still share your hopes
and all of your cares
I'll even remind you
to please say your prayers
I just want to tell you
you still make me proud
You stand head and shoulders
above all the crowd
Keep trying each moment
to stay in His grace
I came here before you
to help set your place
you don't have to be
perfect all of the time
He forgives you the slip
If you continue the climb
To my family and friends
please be thankful today
I'm still close beside you
In a new special way
I love you all dearly
now don't shed a tear
Cause I'm spending my Christmas
with Jesus this year.
